Dear Parents,
It is time to restock school supplies. Many students are constantly out of pencils. They need several sharpened pencils in their desk at all times. They can not get up to sharpen a pencil during lessons and look for a pencil. Please purchase a pack of 12 pencils and send them to school with your child.

Lent is a very important season of our church year. It is a time to simplify our lives and spend more time with Jesus. Maybe this is a good time to spend more family time. Read to each other or play a game instead of watching T.V.   We are doing the purple books in class. We are talking about more prayer; fasting, giving up something and offering our sacrifices to Jesus; and alms, I told them to focus on giving their time because we are collecting toiletry items and they have already donated money for Haiti. We do have a rice bowl on our prayer table if anyone would like to give up a candy bar (etc.) and bring in the money. Mondays are now jean days if the children bring in a toiletry item on that day. We still have color day on Fridays.

We are entering the Reading Rainbow story writing contest. Last week a parent permission slip went home. Please fill it out and return. The story is between 100 – 350 words and must have at least 5 illustrations. You may help proof their stories at home.
Your child’s name is not to be on the paper. I will take care of that when I drop them off.

March is Reading Month. In the Friday folder is a calendar of the activities we will be taking part in. We are following an Olympic theme and children will write their names on gold, silver, or bronze medals depending on the amount of time they read each night. Slips must be turned in on Friday mornings.

We collect pop cans during March to purchase additional AR tests and books. If your family would rather take in the cans and bring the money to class, that would be a great help. Or you can bring in the cans. The winning class will receive a prize. If you are starting spring cleaning the school accepts your gently used books to add to the AR library. The pop can money would purchase their tests.

Tuesday they wear a team sports shirt to school.

Everyone has a favorite book, parents, you are invited into our classroom to share your favorite book with our class. We would enjoy hearing your story. Also, if you like, you can tell us how important reading is at your job. I am very flexible to work around your schedules. The only times that won’t work is when we have a special. Just write down a date and time in your child’s planner and I will respond. Thank you.

Mr. LeValley presented a lesson on soil to the class on Wednesday.

God Bless you, enjoy the weekend.
